The Brief
We were given the following brief for a custom order:
I’m looking to purchase a custom mannequin torso lamp similar to what I’ve seen on your Etsy shop. I love Emma Shipley designs and Frida Kahlo and I already have a few Emma Shipley pieces and am starting a little collection. Also, the colours I love are blues, greens, pinks, and purples. I think they work well together
The Digital Mock-ups
After some brainstorming and drawing, we were able to create some digital mock-ups and details about the materials we can use:
Emma Shipley has a lot of animals and they’re really busy designs, I think attempting to replicate the animals would be tricky. Although, we have stuck with that theme with some animal prints and used all the colours you mentioned. We have beautiful emerald green and pink metal leaf that we can add shiny gilded designs to the mannequin. Most of the details of these designs are intended to be in the gold leaf so they contrast with the background.
Our client’s response was very positive and they were able to choose the colours and patterns that they loved and best suited their tastes
Looking at the designs I love the fuchsia pink but not the paint drips and love the addition of emerald green. I love all animal print so a mixture if works would be fab.
The custom order in process
After finalising the design, we got straight to work on creating their vision. Before installing the lamp kit, a progress photo was sent to check that the custom home decor was exactly what they wanted.
Thankfully, they loved it! We proceeded to finish the mannequin torso lamp and had it posted straight away. The whole process for this order took roughly 3 weeks from the first day we were contacted.
The final product
